Rolling Stock History

This page is not intended to be a history of the CPH Class Railmotors. Rather it features photographs and snippets from the lives of the current CMR rolling stock (numbers 6, 8, 22 and 55).

A Small Piece of History

A friend of the CMR advised us that there was a picture of a CPH at the back of the ticket office at Engadine Station in Sydney's south. Investigation revealed that the picture shows our own No. 6 at Engadine in 1956. Our thanks to Graeme Spargo of the station staff for allowing us to photograph the picture.

This discovery reminded us of a photo we published before in 'What's New' - depicting our CPH No. 22 leading a train at nearby Sutherland on the Illawarra Line. This photo (below), taken in 1979, lead us to comment ' little did our member who took the picture (of 22) realise that 20 years later he'd be driving it!'

Another bit of History

Mark Colman sent us this photo of a newspaper article on the celebrations for 125 years of Richmond/Riverstone rail operations. It features the CMR's own CPH6 in yet another highlight of it's 80 year history. (I'm not sure though if it would resent being called a 'steam train'. Perhaps the reporter can be forgiven, as it does seem to be blowing quite a lot of 'steam' in the photo).
